Back-to-School Backpack Program ​

A city-wide, community-driven project dedicated to providing a new backpack and school supplies to children in need in grades JK-12. The Community Backpack Project ensures children in the city of Guelph can go back to school with confidence and pride.
Long description
The Guelph Community Backpack Project  is a collaborative effort by Lakeside HOPE House, The Neighbourhood Support Coalition, and the Salvation Army of Guelph. In past years, each neighbourhood group has run it's own smaller scale backpack program. However, in the past few years, the program will run city-wide based out of one central location (HOPE House, 75 Norfolk Street, Guelph). The project is designed to give a brand new backpack, full of necessary back-to-school supplies including lunch bags to students in need. We believe that a key ingredient to success in school is a child's ability to feel the confidence that comes with being properly supplied for learning.

How to Get Involved:
1) Complete a Sponsor Application at your local neighbourhood group, or at HOPE House
Applications are usually ready in June

Sponsoring:
Adopt a Child or Family...Select a boy or girl in the age range you would like to sponsor (JK-3, 4-6, or 7-12).
Fill your Backpack! You will be provided with a grade-appropriate school supply list to suit your adopted child.
Return completed backpacks to HOPE House or to our office
